Rati Tsiteladze – World Champion!
2008.09.08 17:59

The leading Georgian exponent of Full- Contact Karate (Neko- Ryu) has achieved further success. Rati Tsiteladze, captain of the Georgian team, became World K-1 Category Champion at the World Championships in Cairo, Egypt, on 27-31 August.  Rati Tsiteladze deafeated all opponents by full knockdowns and is the proud owner of a Champion’s Belt.

The champion began his interview with The Georgian Times with a philosophical observation:

“There is surely nothing other than the purpose of the present moment. A man’s whole life is a succession of moment after moment. If one fully understands the present moment, there will be nothing else to do and nothing else to pursue. We should live by being true to the purpose of each moment.

“Everyone lets the present moment slip by, and then looks for it as though he thought it were somewhere else. No one seems to have noticed this. But while grasping this firmly, one must pile experience upon experience. Once a man has come to this understanding he will be a different person from that point on, though he may not always bear his truth in mind.

“When a person understands this setting into single- mindedness well, his affairs will pann out. Loyalty is also contained within this single- mindedness.”

GT: What benefits will being World Champion bring?

KB: My coach Kakhaber Markozashvili always says: When you are having a hard time it is not enough to simply shout that you are not afraid. You must face the difficult situation bravely, with a feeling of joy and gratefulness. It will be enough just to take the first steps. Doing this his is the main reason for my success.

Now it is clear to me why practitioners of Karate Neko- Ryu say that a person who does not want to be struck by the enemy’s arrows will have no divine protection. For a man who does not wish to be hit by the arrows of a common soldier, but rather by those of a warrior of fame, there will be the protection for which he has asked.

If you look at your life in this way, you will see it is the only way to achieve real success and form a base for your nright future. Kakhaber Markozashvili shows by his own example that you can reach real freedom with the help of Karate Neko- Ryu. Each of us has under our own control bot the present life and life after death. Karate teaches us that we open either Hell’s or Heaven’s doors by our deeds and the outcome of our free choice. That which we call fate is only our aspiration, and our lives bestow on us these aspirations: will we worship them? Will they become fates for us, or will we use them to acquire real freedom? If we make the right decision we will win and at the same time gain freedom!

Through practicing Karate Neko – Ryu  I found out , that everything which is happening around us is the outcome of our deeds and aspirations. Hence I understood that God does not punish anyone. We karate fighters have the following saying: “It is a great honour for a human being, if God objects and chooses to punish us!” No one punishes anyone. We gain the result we have chosen! Practicing Neko-Ryu you will learn this wisdom.

GT: What can you tell us about your future plans?

KB: First of all I would like to express my great regret about the present political situation, due to which I will not be able to take part in the European Championship Kyokushin Karate championship due to take place on 27- 28 September in Moscow.

Despite my weight, which is 79 kg, I expressed a desire to take part in the open weight category. (Rati is the open weight category Champion of Georgia – G.T) I would have fought against men who weigh more then 25 kg more than me. The unbeaten Russian Kyokushin Karate Champion is Osipovi, one of the private bodyguards of Prime Minister Putin. Frankly speaking I specifically wanted to beat him, and that is why I took the decision to take part in the open weight competition. With this I would have been able to prove the advantages of Karate Neko- Ryo to Karate Kyokushinkai!

The future is before us. Let us wait. Thank you!
