US embassy expresses condolences
U.S. Embassy has published a letter of condolence, which says that `The entire U.S. Embassy community extends our deepest sympathies to the family of First Lieutenant Mukhran Shukvani and to the people of Georgia for the loss they have suffered in Afghanistan.

Ex-PM Nogaideli’s Party, Russian Ruling Party to Sign Treaty
Georgia’s former PM Zurab Nogaideli, the leader of Movement for Fair Georgia, will sign a cooperation agreement with Russia’s ruling party, United Russia, in Moscow on February 9, Nogaideli’s party said on Friday. The cooperation agreement between the two parties will be signed by Boris Gryzlov, speaker of Russia’s State Duma and head of the United Russia party. The two parties “aspire to contribute strengthening good neighborly relations between Georgia and the Russian Federation,” according to a text of the draft agreement released by Nogaideli’s party on February 5.

Defense Minister takes part in NATO Ministerial in Turkey
An informal meeting with the participation of NATO member and partner states’ defence ministers begins in the capital of Turkey. The key topics of joint discussions at the ministerial today will be peacekeeping operations and defence transformation issues. Georgian Minister of Defence already arrived in Istanbul yesterday and held meeting with his colleague Mehmet Vecdi Gönül.

Foreign Minister leaves for Munich
Foreign Minister of Georgia Grigol Vashadze has left for Munich where he will participate in the 46-th international conference. The conference will be dedicated to the discussion of the Euro-Atlantic cooperation, European and global security issues. The conference will also discuss the security of natural resources, balance of global powers, Mideast problems and the situation in Afghanistan.
