GFF presidential race begins

Georgian Football Federation is open to receive the applications of the Federation members, who want to run for the GFF president after the previous one, Nodar Akhalkatsi announced his resignation.

The vote will be held on October 26 a month after the deadline for submitting applications.

The most real candidate for the president is the president of the Zugdidi Football Club Baia. Zviad Sichinava came to Georgian football from business sector.

As for the previous president, Nodar Akhalkatsi left Georgia right after his resignation.

Shevardnadze’s former advisor detained in USA Temur Basilia, former economic adviser to President Eduard Shevardnadze, was detained in the USA on 4 February. He has lived in the USA for the last few years demanding political asylum. He appeared on TV in 2009, attending one of the events of the Strategic Research Centre of America, but did not express any desire to talk to Georgian journalists and threatened to set the police on them.
