Comment of Foreign Department on Alexander Vershbow’s Visit
Issue of utmost importance to Georgia will be discussed on visit of US Assistant Secretary of Defense Alexander Vershbow, - Deputy Foreign Minister Aleksandre Nalbandov stated about it. Meeting of the Security working group, established in the frameworks of United States-Georgia Charter on Strategic Partnership will be held. Modernization of Georgian defense system, participation of Georgian servicemen in peace operations in Afghanistan, problems of security in the region will be discussed on the meeting of the group. Nalbandov declares that security issues in the region are important to Georgia as it has never been before. Nalbandov states that US has not addressed Georgia on deployment of missile systems, and Georgia is ready to discuss this issue in case of such appeal. Alexander Vershbow will arrive to Tbilisi this evening.
