Conservative Party accuses president of controlling judiciary
Conservative Party of Georgia accuses president`s administration of interfering in the activities of the courts. Kakha Kukava of the party briefed today and said that the judge of the Gori regional court sent the verdict on the case of Shida Kartli former governor, Mikheil Kareli to president`s administration. `This fact proves that that Mikheil Saakashvili gave orders about the punishment of his political opponents,` Kukava said and presented a paper, which he said was an evidence proving Saakashvili`s interference in the activities of the law courts. Kukava addressed the Supreme Council of Justice to begin disciplinary investigation against the judge Nikoloz Marsagishvili and dismiss him. Gori regional court ruled on the case of Mikheil Kareli in March 25, 2009 and sentenced him to 16 years in jail.
