Underaged Georgians to be tried by separatists today
Four Georgian teenagers will be tried by the separatists today. Russian media reports that the so-called court will rule on the case of Giorgi Romelashvili, Aleko Tsabadze, Victor Buchukuri and Levan Khmiadashvili later today.
The detainees remain in the Tskhinvali isolator. The schoolchildren were abducted from the village of Tirdznisi five days ago. They were accused of illegally crossing the so-called Tskhinvali boundary, robbery and carrying of explosive materials. Family members of the abducted teenagers demand their unconditional release.
The European Union has released a special statement regarding the detention of the pupils, which `expresses profound concern over the detention of four under aged Georgian citizens in the village of Tirdznisi, Gori district. EU authorities say the children taken into custody during pre-trial detention must not be placed in penitentiary facilities used by ordinary criminals.
