Vice Speaker objects to membership of de facto university rector at European club
Vice Speaker of Georgian Parliament, Paata Davitaia objects to the enrolment of the rector of the breakaway Abkhazia University in the European Club of Rectors. Daviataia voiced his protest at the session of the parliament bureau today. He said the European Club of Rectors was a private organization; however, its members represented independent states. He said the membership of the rector of the de facto Abkhazian University was unacceptable, because these unievrsities are licensed by the governments. Davitaia urged the foreign ministry and the education ministry to address the aforementioned club and deprive the self-proclaimed rector of the membership. Speaker Davit Bakradze agreed with the vice speaker. He said the de facto university reflects the ethnic cleansing in Abkhazia, because there is not a single ethnic Georgian student there.
