Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili awarded a European MP, Maria Isler Begin at the special reception held in the president`s palace yesterday. The MP< who chairs the committee of friendship with Georgia in the European Parliament has been awarded with the medal of Golden Fleece. Saakashvili said Georgia would celebrate the withdrawal of Russia`s occupant forces from Abkhazia and South Ossetia with the help and the support of European friends. `We have chosen the road of modern civilization and development. We do not want to return to the Soviet Union and we will do this with the help of our friends,` president said.
