MP Valeri Gelbakhiani, who chairs the election office of the presidential candidate, tycoon Patarkatsishvili and who is being sued by the police for alleged participation in the state coup, has called Rustavi2 making explanations regarding the scandalous video released by the police earlier today. Mr. Gelbakhiani confirmed that he met with the head of the Special Operative Department Erekle Kodua, but defined that he was just trying to convince the interior ministry senior official to abstain from using force against peaceful demonstration. 'We did not talk about state coup,' Gelbakhiani told Rustavi2 in a telephone interview. As questioned if Badri Patarkatsishvili and his allies are planning large-scale protests on 6 January as it was heard in the operative video, Galbakhiani answered that opposition was really preparing for manifestations and that they were organizing the protests in order not to be depended on the spontaneous protests.
