Public Defender Sozar Subari has hailed the decision of the government to reorganize the Public Broadcast and staff its board of trustees according to the parity principle. However, the ombudsman believes the board should consist not only of political figures, but public figures as well to reflect existing social diversity in it. 'I personally know and respect the people who have been the members of the board so far, but they were all active supporters of Mikheil Saakashvili and this factor affected the image of the TV very much,' Ombudsman said. As for the composition of the board, Subari says people from ethnic and religious minorities; university authorities and others should be in the composition of the board, which would increase public confidence towards the GPB.
